Portfolio - Animals & Plants

Portfolio - Landschaft

Not for the impatient

In the beginning, photos of animals or plants were just 'by-products' of my landscape photography. But during a trip to Chile, animals in general, and penguins in particular, sneaked through the lens into my heart and have been my main subject ever since.

I usually start photographing animals long before I pick up the camera, because it's rare that good animal photos are taken in passing. You usually have to plan ahead and research the habitat and behavior of the animal in question. And in many cases this is when the long wait begins. Often enough, a day's photography ends with a completely empty memory card (or a single photo of a robin that took pity on you). But when it all comes together, it's a very special feeling and a connection to the animals that I can only hope other people can see in the photo.

Although I am not opposed to photographing in wildlife parks and the like, all the photos in this portfolio were taken in the wild, without restricting the animals' freedom of movement and with as little disturbance as possible
